the artist

Albano Neves e Sousa was an Angolan painter and ethnographer known for portraying African culture. Born in Luanda, he studied fine arts in Porto, Portugal, earning several awards. He worked with the Angola Museum collecting traditional art before returning to Angola to develop his career.

His work includes paintings, drawings, and large public artworks, such as a major graphite mural at Luanda Airport and decorations for Angolan Airlines. He exhibited internationally and received honors, including two Portuguese government decorations. His art is held in museums across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
